Hello and welcome to our new website. Ethically Eco is a small, family-based business from Mid-Wales. We sell affordable eco-friendly alternatives to everyday products for you and your home. Earlier last year, my mother suggested the idea of a company to find, test out and provide sustainable products and so Ethically Eco was born.
We had been trying to find better alternatives for many years and recognised the demand and need for alternatives. We were both aware of the growing availability of easy, affordable changes available for the eco-conscious individual. Because of this, we created a platform to share these with the world. Read on for some information about what we do.
As a business concerned with environmental issues, it’s necessary that we devote as many resources as possible towards helping the planet. Therefore, we are committing 1% of our gross sales towards environmental projects. We are currently in the process of becoming part of the 1% for the planet initiative. Until then, we will be committing 1% anyway.
We hope to provide environmentally responsible alternatives to everyday products.
We deal with various quality products!
Unfortunately, it’s impossible for us to have zero negative impact on the environment. However, we can try to offset this impact. Carbon offsetting means investing in clean energy and emissions reductions projects to counteract our negative environmental impact. To do this we calculate our deliveries mileage and mode (Train, car, plane), and energy use such as electric.
Following this, we use a carbon offsetting organisation. As a result of this, we receive a monetary value to pay which when invested in emissions reductions projects will negate our impact. Of course, this is not the perfect solution, and we will always try to reduce emissions before offsetting them
Some of our packaging is supplied by the BetterPackagingCo. They provide us with fully home compostable packaging. In addition to this, we also use paper tape and paper wrap. Where possible we reuse packaging materials. These include biodegradable bubble wrap, cardboard boxes and compostable shipping peanuts (Also dissolvable in water). We collect these materials when we order from our eco suppliers.
These alternatives to plastic satchels are made from plants, corn to be exact, with a man-made binding agent added for flexibility. The bags are re-usable and when you’ve finished using them, just put in with your food scraps and garden waste, and before you know it, worms will be eating it for breakfast. Better for the environment, better for our oceans, a better tomorrow.
